I attended the Women of Faith Conference today and cried through much of it. I had the pleasure of watching Lisa Smith, a young woman with Down syndrome, perform. Lisa learned ASL (American Sign Language) and taught herself to sign to Sandi Patty cd's. Sandi Patty saw her in the audience at one of her concerts and invited Lisa up on stage. Since then, Lisa has signed at many Women of Faith conferences around the country.

As I watched Lisa, God reminded me that Rebekah is not limited by her diagnosis. GOD is not limited by Rebekah's diagnosis. I was reminded that God loves Rebakah. That He created her. He formed her in my womb. She was not some accident of conception. God knows every intimate detail of how she was formed. God will raise her up for His good purpose. I just need to let go and let God do His work. Or as Luci Swindoll said "Show up, shut up and let go!".

Teagan Jean

Teagan Jean Although not famous, Teagan (and family) share a close and special bond with Lisa. Lisa is an inspiration of the biggest kind ever since Mom (Holly) attended a Women of Faith Conference in Rochester, New York a few years ago where she saw Lisa come up on stage to perform with Sandi Patty. Holly who had been dealing with the news and difficulties of raising a child with Down syndrome was inspired and recharged for life by seeing her perform. After the concert she stood in line among hundreds of other women to meet Lisa at her signing table. This first meeting between Lisa, her Mom Vicki and Holly has built a life-long mutual friendship.

Vicki and Lisa traveled to New York to stay as guest of the Klingenberg Family, honored us with a private inspirational awe inspiring performance during a difficult time of dealing with the news that our Teagan has Cancer (AML Leukemia). The family has been struggling since February of 2007 with treatments of Teagan, and only with the true friends like Lisa and Vicki been able to flourish and stay strong.

In life you have many opportunities and challenges, but not often are you able to do something as special as putting your heart and soul into a project. I have the honor of designing this website for Lisa, as she is an amazing person, an inspiration to me and my family, a rising star and most of all a gift from God. I hope that by being part of this project, others will have the opportunity to see Lisa, feel the power of her hands as she performs and shouts her message of hope and inspiration and love for the Lord.
